Merry Christmas.
I have to admit, it's a little weird that today is December 25th but it's not actually Christmas. Not in my house anyway. With three out of five "kids" married, this year is the in-laws turn for actual Christmas. Family Christmas is delayed until the 29th. Christmas isn't tied down to the date for me. The 25th... the 29th... as long as it's still December I'm okay with postponing Christmas until everyone is here.
And of course of all possible 365 days in the year my body has chosen the five days surrounding Christmas to be sick. Slightly miserable... but I console myself with the thought that it's not actually Christmas. My head is full of cotton, my throat is raw and my skin is prickly. I can't muster the energy to get off the couch.
So what are we doing this Christmas that's-not-actually-Christmas? We're putting up the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations around the house because my parents haven't gotten around to it yet. It strikes me as a little ironic... we're decorating for Christmas on Christmas day. And our tree is fake of course because no one is selling Christmas trees on Christmas day. So we live in the land where Christmas trees are made and we have a fake one. I'm trying not to be disappointed about that... especially since I had a free Christmas tree offered to me last week.
Here's a photo of the activities. Note the mess.
