The sun is finally shining. It's feels a little strange to see this place bathed in light. I've gotten so used to the damp, slightly depressing, mossy greeness of everything that the sun is a shock to my system. Everything is so beautiful in the light.

It reminds me of our spiritual lives. In the the gray twilight of sin, life is uncomfortably soggy, cold and depressing. Nothing is very good, but then nothing is very bad. There are no discerable shadows.... Without light how can there be? Everything is lost in the monotany.

Does the light bring shadows? No, it just reveals its existence; in the light, you realize how dark the darkness is. But beyond revealing shadows the light reveals beauty. How glorious is a life lived free! How deep is the love that lives in selflessness!
