On the issue of pride....

The speaker this week is a little interesting. That's all I'm going to say. You can decide what that means on your own. In the middle of one of his lectures he talked about how confronting a prideful person has its issues. I found his description amusingly true.

The prideful person you're confronting could:

a. point out your sins as a way of deflecting the conversation away from them

b. try to disregard what you're saying by focusing on the supposed wrong way you're confronting them

c. claim they don't understand what you're talking about (because if they don't understand, they can't be held accountable)

d. tell you they can't help it and ignore you

e. tell you God created them that way and ignore you

I'm sure I've been on both sides of the boat, the person confronting and the prideful person who doesn't want to hear it. I'm not sure why, but this short list really stuck out to me during lecture.... It could have been because the other stuff he was saying was a little interesting, if you know what I mean.
