Life is so interesting. Sometimes you find yourself in places you never expected, meeting bunch of people you never knew, broadening your experiences and your context of interaction.

I'm back in Korea after almost two weeks in Japan. At the moment, I'm hanging out at the OMF Korea office killing time until the field director gets a moment to talk to me. OMF, for those of you who don't know, is the mission agency my parents have been with for the past thirty years and is the agency who may sponsor me for a visa- or they may not. I'm here to find out.

Yesterday, after I had gone through immigration in Seoul, I looked at my passport to find out how long I could stay in Korea. The immigration official had scrawled in my passport with a pen and mumbled almost inaudibly something that sounded like, "You have 5 days in Korea." That was a bit shocking. When I looked at my passport, I couldn't read what he had scrawled so I asked an airport official to help me out. He couldn't read it either so he handed it to some one else who also had no idea what it said. After conferring for a moment, they told me that I had received a six month visa. That couldn't be possible, Americans only get one month visas as tourists! When I questioned the guy about it they told me not to worry, Americans get six months. Don't worry my foot. I'd like to believe that I have a six month visa but no one, including immigration officials can be trusted when it comes to visas. I'm still afraid that I can only stay in Korea for five days. I'll get to the bottom of this tomorrow.
