Evidence and Other Things

Here's evidence that I'm learning stuff at EMT school.... or at least that I'm supposed to be learning stuff. My friend Drew looks like he's strangling that poor guy and I'm definitely looking like his accomplice. The manikin can't breath but instead of ventilating (or fighting Drew off) I shall stand here holding the bag-valve mask and smile encouragingly. Good thing I haven't graduated to real people yet. I fear for them.

At this point I want to tell some funny story about my life as an EMT student I can't thing of anything particularly amusing. There is the story about how I taught some of the guys to flip their pen around their fingers like Japanese high school students do. They don't quite have it down yet, much to the consternation of the rest of the class who listen to pens being dropped again and again and again during lecture.

But that's really not a funny story... I'm pretty much out of funny stories for now. I'm all distracted stressing out about my impending two weeks of final exams starting next week. And I thought this class would be easy.... (it's only community college after all). Ha! What was I thinking?

In other news, I went to Tacoma last weekend to speak at a church on anti trafficking. I had a great time, actually better than usual because the pastor led a processing time afterward where they discussed real action steps they wanted to take as a church. It was so refreshing to listen to their thought processes and get feedback. I'm never in on those conversations because usually they don't happen, or at least not in an organized way. I really do hope that this church can find their niche in the battle against trafficking.

One thing I did not expect on my trip to Tacoma was a fall blizzard. If you're from snow country you'll laugh at this photo, but honestly, this much snow is NOT supposed to fall here this time of year. If I hadn't had to drive pack to Portland I definitely would have made a few snowmen in the front yard.

My trusty car does pretty good in the snow.... either that or I'm an awesome snow driver (pretty doubtful). I managed to drive on all sorts of ice and snow and made it home safe and sound a few hours later. Hooray!
