Hi from Georgia (the country, not the state)!
I don't have much time to write, but I wanted to give you a brief idea of what I'm doing.
Where we stay.
All 11 of us are staying at a nice "hotel" (actually, it's more like a youth hostel) at the top of a hill. After riding the metro (subway) home from downtown, we have to climb almost 300 stairs! My calve muscles are growing huge.
What we do.
Life in Georgia seems to be slitting up into three parts. Half of the team goes to an orphanage every day (it's a 3 hour bus ride!) to do a vacation Bible school, while the other half works with a local YWAMer to teach Bible classes at a private school and then teaches English clubs at a university near by. It's a somewhat hectic schedule so we could use a lot of prayer.
What Georgia is like.
Georgia is beautiful. I'm partial to trees and mountains which the capitol city of Tbilisi has a lot of. The weather is warming up finally, but it's been rainy. Georgians are amazing people. They are so curious and open. While we were riding the metro home late one night we made 5 new friends. University students kept coming up to us and asking us why were are here and what we're up to. I really, really enjoy these people. The city is pretty modern. European styles abound and people are more laid back, open and touchy than Azerbaijan. It feels rather freeing and a whole lot more familiar than Azerbaijan.
