Yesterday, suddenly, with out knowing what was going on, I found myself at the center of a photo shoot. The photographer had his massive camera loaded and ready, the flash umbrella's (or what ever they're called) were positioned artistically around the room... and there I was.

A Korean friend of mine called me up a few days ago and asked if I wanted to be interviewed about olive oil for a Korean Country Home type magazine. Not being a great cook, I asked her if a prerequisite for the interview was actually knowing something about olive oil. It wasn't. She told me that all the reporter wanted was a foreigner's perspective on the use of olive oil. I was a bit confused. I explained that there wasn't much to say about olive oil... it is simply used as a substitute for other oils in cooking. But this lack of information didn't seem to phase the reporter in the least. She just needed a foreigner....

So I arrived expecting an interview. The "set" was a nice new apartment, furnished with all sorts of kitcheny things. A plump cook was present and began to question me on exactly how she should go about making Garlic Spaghetti. How in the world should I know? She's the cook! So much for not having to know anything about olive oil (and how ironic that they were asking me, the worst cook in the world!!). Since they were insistent on my participation I called a friend and asked her. When that was all sorted out, I was handed an apron and told to go stand next to a table displaying all sorts of Italian cooking ingredients. Then the camera started to flash... and I caught myself thinking, how did I end up here?

But it was fun and a great way to make a hundred bucks.
