An article in the Chosun Ilbo, a Korean newspaper.

“A restaurant in Seoul allows visitors to "appreciate a sleeping, well-proportioned Russian beauty" in a glass booth while they eat.

As soon as one enters the unnamed restaurant in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, one's attention is immediately drawn to the glass booth in the middle of the restaurant. If the hermetically sealed glass booth's curtains are drawn open, the image of a long-legged Russian beauty, laying enchantingly in shorts and a sleeveless shirt, is revealed.”

The article goes on to explain that the restaurant owner wanted to draw in more customers and got the idea of displaying a young woman from California. The customers, however, don't seem to be warming up to the idea of staring at Sleeping Beauty while they eat.

What kind of ploy is this guy trying to pull? Displaying a "Russian beauty" in a restaurant like she's a circus animal. Young Russian girls come to Korea because their western bodies are worth a lot on the Korean prostitution market. Hanging out in a glass cage is probably not all this girl does.

The somewhat underground porn/prostitution society here makes me sick. It's a plague, a black cancer that's eating the rotting flesh off of lustful souls. Koreans pretend like it doesn't exist. They will walk right past a brothel on a well traveled street and not see it. Deep in their truth-denying hearts they know their country has a problem but they are ashamed to acknowledge it's existence much less do something about it.

The sin in the world, namely the exploitation of women and children in desperate situations makes me SO MAD. I could go off, but I'll restrain myself for the moment because it wouldn't be coherent.
