Dear Dr. Ro,

I have just graduated from a college and I've been trying to figure out what I should do with my life. I have been given two job options and I don't know which one I should take. I feel like my choice will drastically influence the flow of my entire life. That thought leaves me practically paralyzed. What should I do?

Frightfully Fretting

Dear Frightfully Fretting,

Although the next choice you make could quite possibly change the course of your life, it's darn intimidating to think like that. A better way to look at it (and actually a much truer way of seeing things) is that God is in control of your life. As long as you honestly seek his will and do what he says, he will lead you to places that will not only benefit people around you but make you happy as well. That's the truth of it. God has a plan for your life and if you think this next choice will make or break the rest of it, then your perspective of God's ability to work in your life is rather linear and short sighted.

Since God has a plan for you, you do not need to fear the future. God may tell you what you should do or, if he is silent, he may want you to use the mind he has given you to assess the facts and choose what seems best. But always seek his will. Then he will work in and through what ever situation you end up in. If you end up not enjoying where this next choice takes you, you have plenty of time to try other things.

But remember, the most important thing is to have the correct perspective. God is always in control of our lives as long as we seek him and we can rest in that.
