School officially starts tomorrow. Eeek! I don't know what kind of semester I'm looking at. It could be really stressful or it could be really easy. I'm teaching 4 subjects compared to my usual 5, but I'm teaching 6 classes (instead of my usual 5). In two of my subjects (Jr. High science and High school science) I'm teaching to two sections each. I've never taught two sections of the same class before at this school. My high school class I only meet with two days a week (instead of the usual 5). It's going to be a bit strange.
That's why I don't know what kind of semester it's going to be. I can say one thing for sure- I'm a much, much better teacher than I was a year and a half ago when I started this job. Back then, preparing for the beginning of term was like starving for two weeks and then sitting down to a beautiful turkey dinner. I didn't know where to start! I was overwhelmed and floundering. I didn't know what I should expect from the students and I didn't know what I should expect from myself. Now, I'm far from perfect but I know so much more. I can actually have a general plan spanning the whole semester. What a concept!
